What does Virgo mean?
Virgo is the name of a constellation that is commonly interpreted as a lady carrying a sheaf of grain. It is sometimes referred to as The Virgin.
A constellation is a group of stars that appear close to one another in the sky, especially a named group.
Virgo is one of the twelve zodiacal constellations, or constellations that occur within the zodiac, a particular section of the sky.
In astronomy, the zodiac is the region of the sky along which the apparent motion of the sun, moon, and planets can be observed.
Despite its origins in astronomy, the term zodiac is most commonly linked with and used in the context of astrology, the pseudoscience in which the placements of celestial bodies at specific times are believed to impact or be correlated with human behavior and events.
In astrology, the zodiac refers to a diagram (typically circular) depicting the zodiac belt and displaying the symbols associated with each of the 12 constellations or parts, known as zodiac signs.
Virgo is among these zodiac signs. It is considered the sixth sign of the zodiac and is located between Leo and Libra.
Spica (Latin for “grain head,” also known as Alpha Virginis), the brightest star in the constellation Virgo, is the 15th brightest star in the sky, with a magnitude of 1.04.
The constellation Virgo contains the nearest massive galaxy cluster, the Virgo cluster, which a huge elliptical galaxy.
Virgo A and the pulsar around which the first extrasolar planets were identified in 1992 are located.

Virgo’s Symbol
Virgo’s symbol is the letter “M” with a loop at its end. There are various opinions that this letter represents “Maiden,” but Scorpio must also be associated with it.
What is the Virgo Sign?
Virgo (♍︎)
The loop in the Virgo symbol represents chastity, whether it is interpreted as a woman’s crossed legs or as a closed loop where no impurities can enter.
In a completely different interpretation, Virgo Zodiac Sign is represented by three similar obstacles or paths, the third of which completes the circle and leads back to the starting point.
As depicted in the myth of Icarus, Virgo’s symbol represents the proverb “what goes around, comes around.”
Virgo’s Ruling Planet
The planet Mercury, the Roman god of communication, eloquence, travelers, boundaries, trickery, fortune, and thieves, rules the Zodiac Sign of Virgo.
Additionally, he guided souls to the underworld. Its counterpart in Greek mythology is Hermes, a messenger who moves swiftly between the mortal and divine realms.
Mercury’s symbol consists of a circle and a cross below it, like Venus’s, but with a crescent at the top.
Mind is represented by a crescent, spirit by a circle, and physical substance by a cross.
This sign represents the divine and physical natures of the mind (Gemini) (Virgo). The crescent’s “horns” are also associated with the Roman god Mercury’s winged headdress.
This god was also represented by a caduceus, a staff encircled by two snakes.
